Fellow Officials

The season is upon us and we have  many games to cover.  We need all officials at every level to cover these games. Please submit your availability to Dan by the 20th of every month.

A Few Reminders

If your availability changes please let Dan know ASAP.  When you submit your availability make sure you use the special notes to indicate what rink you want to work at, specific times and days, and any needs you may have. This will help Dan schedule you better.

Check List

Check your assignments, right them down, and check them again.  You need to know what games you are in, the rink you are at, the side you are on, the level of games you are working, and the league you are working.  You need to know the rules for the level of game and league you are working and come to the rink prepared.

Professionalism

Arrive at the rink at least 30 minutes before the game start time.  In the locker room, check your tools make sure they work.  Talk to your partner about the game level and teams you are going to ref.  Make sure you are the first one on the ice.  When the Zamboni is making its last pass, get on the ice & make sure no players get on the ice before the the doors close.  Use this time to check the ice, boards, glass, and then set and check the nets.  During warm ups, introduce yourself to the coaches and check the score sheet.  Upper level refs should know what teams they are working and any history about the teams.  Also, tournaments, travel, and college teams have a dress code for players and coaches......the refs should know and meet them.

Remember who you are every time you walk into a rink.  Whether you are officiating, playing, coaching or just stopping by the rink, people see you and know you are a Referee so always be professional.  Always respect the rink you are in, the people that work there, & the players, coaches and parents.  Always Respect your Fellow Official!!!

Thanks from your RIC
